Frederic Malle is the man behind the Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle fragrance house. Born in Paris in 1962 into a family dedicated to the perfume industry (grandfather Serge Heftler founded Christian Dior Perfumes and Frederic's mother later worked as an art director for the same perfume house), Frederic was introduced to the inner workings of the industry at an early age.
At the famous Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery laboratory, Frederic learned about raw materials, composition and all aspects of perfume creation from some of the best professionals in the sector.
In the year 2000, drawing on his contacts and experience in the sector, Frederic invited nine top perfumers to create their own original perfumes, with complete creative freedom and without financial restrictions regarding ingredients or technologies.
The end result was a resounding success. A self-described "perfume editor," Frederic Malle has since worked with other top perfumers in the industry to "publish" more Editions.
