Hamid Merati-Kashani is a respected perfumer currently working with Firmenich. Born in Germany to an Iranian father and a German mother, Hamid spent his childhood in Isfahan, Iran, surrounded by rose fields, which sparked his interest in perfumery. He defines himself as "Iranian in education and German in organization", and his upbringing has influenced his approach to work.
Hamid's work has taken him around the world, and he has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most prestigious fragrance brands, including Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent. Hamid is inspired by the luxury and opulence of the Middle East and says that "everything is bigger and more beautiful" in this part of the world, where he believes consumers have developed their own olfactory culture.
